Steve grew up in a family of road racers. Both his parents have been involved in motorsports since the late 1960's. For most of that time they raced a GT-1 prepared 1971 Ford Mustang.
When Steve turned 16 he ran his first autocross in a 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1. Autocrossing a '71 Mach 1 was like trying to drive an aircraft carrier through downtown Seattle. Mostly he kept his eyes closed and hoped that he didn't plow through too many cones.
Two days after his 18th birthday he ran his first track in the same Mach 1. He was instantly hooked. After he graduated from Western Washington University (with a degree in Industrial Technology: Vehicle Design) he participated in Cascade Sports Car Club's Driver Training program at PIR.
He then acquired a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STi. Almost instantly he had the car out at Pacific Raceways for a track day.
In 2007 Steve ran several track days at Pacific Raceways and Bremerton Motorsports park. He also participated in a number of autocrosses.
For 2008 Steve prepared the car to run the NW Region SCCA Track Trials Series. He won the TT-2 class regional championship. In the fall of 2008, he adventured to Reno, NV for the SCCA Divisional Track Trial Championships. Although he had a blast and finished 2nd in TT-2, a broken engine prematurely ended the weekend.
2009 saw Steve go for his ICSCC competition license. Gaining a ICSCC competition license is a three step process that has a new driver work with veteran drivers in order to bring them up to a certain level of racing competency. Steve made it to the second step in 2009 and is looking forward to completing the licensing process in 2010.
